A properly installed hardwood floor will last for generations providing it is well looked after. We have prepared a few pointers which will help to keep your Blueridge Floor in tip-top condition for years to come.
- Regularly vacuum the floor to prevent sand or abrasive dust from accumulating and scratching the finish.
- Wash your floor using a damp (not wet) cloth or mop.
- Wipe up any spots or spills immediately.
- Variations in the humidity level of a room can cause warping (shrinkage and expansion) of the wood. Adequate ventilation, dehumidifying or heating will overcome these problems.
- Be aware that sharp and pointed objects such as high heels, pet's paws and grit from the bottom of shoes may damage the finish of the floor.
- We recommend the use of specialist wood care products to clean your floor rather than wax, household detergents or soap which can leave a greasy film behind. Always clean the floor lengthwise following the wood grain.
- We recommend the use of floor protection (felt pads) under all furniture and chair legs, in order to ease their movement and to prevent scratching the floor.
- It helps to place protective mats at doorways.
- A benefit of solid or engineered hardwood flooring is that it can be sanded down and re-finished if damage to the floor is substantial. We recommend that you engage a professional flooring installer to do this for you.
