A farming family have been busy building their dream home near to Newport in Shropshire. With a floor space of over 4000 square feet, there is a big demand for floor coverings, and with a project timescale of 7 years in the planning and building, they wanted to get things just right.
They approached a local well known floorcovering company called The Carpet Loom in Newport. The owner, Jeremy Blackburn says " we were asked to look at many different types of carpets and smooth flooring, this family are very particular and want to get the design and look of the house just right".
Unique sculptured carpets were chosen, some having coloured inlay borders, and specially wide carpets were ordered to avoid having to have joins in the large walkways.
When it came to the hardwood flooring, the family wanted a walnut wood to display a classic quality look. The Carpet Loom sourced a couple of samples from a few suppliers, including a large display board of Blueridge Maxi 170x22 Engineered with a lacquered finish.
"When the family saw the dark richness of the Blueridge Walnut product, they went for the Blueridge product straight away over the others" says Jeremy, "the family also saw the benefits of the Blueridge 100% hardwood engineered flooring over the competitor's plywood backed product". The 100% hardwood three layer system reduces stress in the glue layer which has been known to fail in the plywood backed systems as the top layer expands and contracts with changing humidity and temperature.
"The only change made from seeing the original Blueridge sample was to go with an oiled finish instead of the lacquered finish" said Jeremy, " Peter at Blueridge Floors explained the ease of maintenance with an oiled finish where marks and scratches can be repaired by applying further oil coats over the life of the floor".
The Carpet Loom have taken delivery of a Blueridge Hardwood Flooring stand and hope that other customers call in and fall in love with a Blueridge Walnut Floor.
